Mr. Earl L. Ijames will be our guest speaker at the May 5, 2012, meeting to be held at the North Carolina State University Club. The program will be “Naval Stores: The Real Tar Heels.” Mr. Ijames is a 1991 graduate of North Carolina State University and is the Curator of the North Carolina Museum of History. He and his wife, Genia Parham Ijames, and their children live in Wendell, North Carolina.
Mr. Ijames is presently working on several committees including the NC 1812 War Bicentennial Committee, the NC World War I Centennial Committee, the NC Freedom Monument Commission, the NC Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee and the North Carolina Freedom Monument Committee. Mr. Ijames was the Keynote Speaker at the Annual Meeting of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and has received the Jefferson Davis Award for Historical Research.
There will be a cash bar beginning at 11:30. Lunch will be served at noon. The menu for the meal will be: New York Strip, grilled and served with au jus and broiled mushrooms, Caesar salad, Sauteed Asparagus, Oven Roasted Potatoes, Bqt. Pecan Pie, Rolls and Butter, Coffee/Tea/Water. The cost per meal will be $27.00.
